Pulihora Recipe | How to make Pulihora Recipe step by step video:

How to make Pulihora Recipe: A South Indian traditional food. Being a part of every festival, it can be offered to god as a prasadam.

Ingredients for tamarind juice:

Chintapandu (Tamarind) : 250 gms
Nune (oil) : 2 tsp
Uppu (Salt) : 1 tsp
Nilu (Water) : 3 cups

Ingredients for Pulihora Recipe:

Bhiyyam (Rice) : 1/2 kg
Pachimirapakaya (Green Chillies) : 6
Allam (Ginger) pieces : 1 tsp
Karivepakulu (Curry Leaves) : 2 stems
Chintapandu (Tamarind) paste : 6-8 tsp
Nune (Oil) : 4 tsp
Uppu (Salt) : 2-3 tsp
Pasupu (Turmeric) : 1 tsp
Verusanagpappu (Ground nuts) : 25 grams
Sanagapappu (Bengalgram) : 2 tsp
Minappappu (Blackgram) : 1 tsp
Aavalu (Mustard seeds) : 1 tsp
Endumirapakayalu (Red Chillies) : 2 or 3
Inguva (Assafoetida) : 1 tsp

Step by step procedure on how to make Tamarind juice:

Take 250 gms of tamarind, make sure it is seed free tamarind.  In a bowl, pour 3 cups of water and boil tamarind Now squeeze out tamarind juice from boiled tamarind  Again boil squeezed juice and add 1 tsp of salt and 2 tsp of oil.  Boil it and take out from stove after it forms thick layer.

Step by step procedure on how to make Pulihora Recipe:

Cook 1/2 kg rice in rice cooker. Mean while cut green chillies in middle, allam.  Take cooked rice in a vessel, add curry leaves, 1tsp salt, add 1 tsp oil to turmeric powder and mix all these into cooked rice. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add ground nuts and red chillies let them fry, separate them from oil, add to rice. Add 2 tsp Bengal gram to oil, let it fry till golden colour, now add 1 tsp Urad dal, 1&1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds, Green chillies, 1 tsp ginger pieces, 2 stems curry leaves. Add 6-8 tsp Tamarind paste, 2 tsp salt to rice and add fried ingredients into rice. Mix the ingredients to rice thoroughly

Serving: Chintapandu Pulihora is ready to serve, you can have it as breakfast or as a special item on festivals
