How to make Tomato Dal Recipe: Use ripen tomatoes for improving vision. It is also called as pappu which is Andhra cuisine.We can prepare Tomato Dal Recipe in 20 minutes.
Ingredients for making Tomato Dal Recipe-
Kandipappu or Toor dal : 1 Cup
Tomatoes : 3-4, chopped tomatoes
Onions : 1 small, chopped onion
Cumin seeds : 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds : 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder : a pinch
Red chilli powder : 2 tbsps
Curry levaes : 1 strig
Oil : 1 tbsp
Water : 3 cups
Rock Salt : 1 tbsp
Salt : 1 tbsp
Tamarind : 1-2
Step by step procedure on how to make Tomato Dal Recipe:
Take 1 cup of Toor dal and rinse with water. Pour 1 1/2 cup of water into rinsed toor dal and soak it for 20 minutes. Mean while, take one bowl and add chopped tomatoes, onions, 1-2 rinsed tamarind and 1 tbsp of rock salt. (If prefers, add chopped cucumber or potatoes). After 20 mins, in a pressure cooker add 1 glass of water and keep toor dal bowl and prepared vegetable bowl. Cook them for 5-6 whistles. If pressure settles take out whistle and bowls. Smash the boiled toor dal with spoon and add cooked vegetables to the dal.
Add 1 tbsp of red chilli powder (if prefers , instead of red chilli powder add green chilli paste), a pinch of turmeric powder, if necessary salt, mix them well and keep the bowl on stove. Take small bowl, add 1 tbsp of oil, 1 tbsp of mustard seeds, 1 tbsp of cumin seeds, 1 strig of curry leaves. Saute them well and add it to preapared dal. If necessary add water and mix them well and heat it for 5-10 minutes and take off from stove. Now tomato dal is ready for serving.
